ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to describe the macrozoobenthos community in the Cikidang River, Pangandaran. The study was conducted at 4 stations along the Cikidang River from November to December 2021 using a survey methode. The parameters measured in this study were water temperature, pH, salinity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) BOD5, the texture of the substrate, organic matter content, the density macrozoobenthos, the diversity index (H’), and the uniformity index (E). The research results on the Cikidang River have obtained 14 species, including 12 genera, 9 families, 3 classes, and 2 phyla. The density of macrozoobenthos at station 1 was 22,911 ind/m2, and the lowest density at station 2 was 1,578 ind/m2. The diversity index ranges from 0,80 – 1,12. At the same time, the uniformity index ranges from 0,58 – 0,70. The organic matter content ranges from 2,41% – 4,15%. The substrate texture at stations 1, 2, and 3 has a clay texture, and station 4 has a sandy clay loam texture. The water quality conditions in the Cikidang River, Pangandaran, are included in situations that can still support the life of macrozoobenthos with class II and class III quality requirements following Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.
