INTRODUCTION
Jeevamrut is a natural soil fertilizer and a crop growth enhancer. It is a bio-fertilizer rich in microorganisms that help improve the soil fertility and the productivity of the crop. Jeevamrut is derived from two words “Jeevan” and “Amrit”. Jeevan means life and Amrit means medicine (Abhishek, 2020; Kumari et al., 2022). Jeevamrut, often called the “elixir of life” for the soil, is a natural fertilizer that harnesses the power of beneficial microorganisms to rejuvenate farmlands and promote sustainable farming practices. Jeevamrut is rich in beneficial microorganisms such as nitrogen-fixing and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (Kaur, 2020; Kumar et al., 2021). Jeevamrut is a low-budget preparation that enriches the soil, helps to grow microorganisms, and improves the mineralization of the soil. Jeevamrut is prepared from native cow urine, dung, jaggery, and horse gram. It is the right time to use cow-based products in the agriculture field. The fungal infections and tick burning are effectively kept under control by Jeevamrut. Jeevamrut was sprayed in the nursery and given irrigation every night in the main fields, don’t use chemical fertilizers or pesticides during the whole cultivation period.
METHOD OF PREPARATION
To preparation of Jeevamrut, we can use 200 liters of Water, 10 kg fresh cow dung, 10 liters of Fresh cow urine, 2 kg gram flour, 2 kg jaggery, and a handful of fertile soil (Abhishek , 2020). Mix all these ingredients in a thoroughly clean large container mix them well, cover them with the jute sack, or keep them in a shady place and stir them with the wooden stick in the barrel clockwise and anticlockwise and keep repeating this process in two times a day and let them ferment for 7 days. After 7 days it is ready to use.
HOW TO USE?
Jeevamrut is a very good and highly rich organic fertilizer that improves the growth of plants, improves the quality of grains, or increases the microorganism content in the soil. After preparing jeevamrut, its use is very easy. We apply jeevamrut in the field through irrigation. Jeevamrut is diluted with water in a 1:4 ratio i.e. 1 liter of jeevamrut and 4 liter of water. Jeevamrut is diluted with water and applied to the plant. If too much jeevamrut is applied it does not cause any harm to the plant. If you have an irrigation system, jeevamrut can be diluted with water and applied in the field. If you have a potted plant, then pour the jeevamrut mix into the root of the plant. It is said that rice, wheat, sugarcane, and maize are the most exhaustive crops and require high doses of fertilizers it also degrades the quality of the soil and decreases the productivity of the crops (Saharan, et. al., 2023). To overcome this problem peoples are adopting organic fertilizer like jeevamrut so that the productivity and quality of the crop improves.
Benefits of Jeevamrut
Jeevamrut is an organic fertilizer that is a vibrant source of Nitrogen, phosphorus, Potassium, and all other micronutrients that play a vital role in plant growth and development. It maintains the pH of the soil, improves the aeration in the soil, and increases the beneficial bacteria for plant growth (Abhishek, 2020; Kaur and Saini, 2021). The following benefits of Jeevamrut are as:
1) Soil Fertility Enhancement: Jeevamrut improves soil fertility by enriching it with essential nutrients and organic matter. The microorganisms present in Jeevamrut break down complex organic compounds into simpler forms, making them readily available to plants. This process enhances nutrient uptake, leading to healthier and more productive crops
2) Pest and Disease Management: The microorganisms in Jeevamrut act as natural antagonists against harmful pests and diseases. They suppress the growth of pathogenic organisms by competing for resources and producing antimicrobial compounds (Gupta, 2020). This natural defense mechanism reduces the reliance on chemical pesticides, making Jeevamrit an eco-friendly alternative
3) Sustainable Agriculture: Jeevamrut promotes sustainable agriculture by reducing the dependence on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Its use minimizes the negative environmental impacts associated with chemical inputs, such as water pollution and soil degradation. Additionally, Jeevamrut can be easily prepared using locally available materials, making it a cost-effective solution for resource-limited farmers.
JEEVAMRUTHA – A BLESSING FOR FARMERS
As we all know, Jeevamrut is a beneficial organic fertilizer for the soil as well as for the crop, but it is also beneficial for the farmers. Jeevamrut is a very cost-effective fertilizer, and it is beneficial for both plants and soil. Farmers can save a lot of money by using jeevamrut instead of money by using jeevamrut instead of chemical fertilizer. Jeevamrut increases the yield of the crops and also improves the quality of soil and the soil texture for long-term use. By reducing the use of chemical fertilizer and promoting a healthier ecosystem, jeevamrut minimizes soil and water pollution and supports biodiversity conservation. Farmers who have livestock can prepare jeevamrut very easily and can apply it in their fields.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, Jееvamrut, derived from the words “Jееvan” (life) and “Amrit” (medicine), stands as a powerful testament to the potential of sustainable and organic farming practices. The benefits of Jееvamrut еxtеnd beyond the fields, as it offers substantial cost savings for farmers and reduces the еnvironmеntal impact associated with chemical fertilizers. Additionally, it fosters a healthier еcosystеm, minimizes soil, and water pollution, and contributes to biodiversity consumption. In еssеncе, Jееvamrut is a blessing for farmers, enabling them to increase crop productivity, improve soil quality, and reduce their dеpеndеncе on harmful chemicals. This organic fertilizer еmbodiеs the principles of sustainable agriculture, ensuring a grееnеr and more prosperous future for both farming communities and the еnvironmеnt. Jeevamrut has so many benefits which is why it has become a boon for farmers.
