ABSTRACT
The global population, currently surpassing seven billion, is on track to double within the next four decades. Recent surveys have revealed a noteworthy trend: a substantial proportion of today’s young men across diverse nations express a willingness to take an active role in managing their fertility. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that contraceptive choices predominantly focused on male biology have remained largely stagnant for over a century. The regulation of ovulation in women, a monthly occurrence, has proven comparatively more manageable than the continuous production of millions of fertile sperm in post-pubertal males each day. Consequently, the array of contraceptive options available to men has remained restricted to conventional methods such as abstinence, timing-based withdrawal (coitus interruptus), barrier methods like condoms, or surgical interventions such as vasectomy. In light of the growing interest in herbal medicine, there is a burgeoning curiosity surrounding plant-based alternatives for male contraception. The objective of this study, in conjunction with others in the field, is to evaluate the potential efficacy of Mangifera indica as a novel regimen for male fertility control. This research aims to explore the promising possibilities presented by natural remedies and their role in expanding the contraceptive options available to men, addressing the evolving needs and preferences of today’s population in the realm of reproductive health.
