Optical limiting behaviour and Morphology of Zinc sulfide doped with Methyl green thin film

ABSTRACT

We wanted to investigate the optical properties of a zinc sulpfide (ZnS) film that had methyl green (MLG) added to it. This film was made by casting ZnS:MLG onto a micro-glass. After examining the absorption data, we discovered an indirect transition in the fundamental energy band gap (). The optical parameters we looked at were absorbance (), extinction coefficient (), the real and imaginary parts of dielectric constants. Wemple–DiDomenico model was used to determine the dispersion energy and third-order optical nonlinear susceptibility. A study is being done to determine the ZnS:MLG can be used as an optical limiter.
