ABSTRACT
This study examined the challenges associated with the effective implementation of work-life balance policy and factors affecting organisational commitment in selected insurance companies in Delta State. A cross-sectional research design and convenience sampling technique were adopted. A questionnaire was employed as the research instrument for this study with 251 respondents deemed usable. Data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of the study revealed significant challenges associated with the effective implementation of work-life balance policy and organisational commitment in Delta State. Thus, the study concludes that inability to achieve flexible working condition in Nigeria, policy inconsistency on the part of government, lack of top-down communication process, failure to evaluate the impact of work-life balance initiative, long hour culture and irregular working hour and increase work demands in the organisation affected the implementation of work-life balance initiatives organisational commitment in Delta State. Thus, the study recommends among others that in order to boost employee commitment, management should make an effort to implement flexible work arrangements.
