Metaverse in Spanish ports as a high impact solution

ABSTRACT

The metaverse is a term used to describe a virtual universe shared online in which people can interact in real time. This concept has recently become popular thanks to the rise of virtual and augmented reality technology. For the ports of the Spanish port system, it is intended to analyze the possibility of implementing the metaverse through the analysis of the minimum elements necessary to successfully implement the metaverse through the Business Observation Tool.  Thanks to the BOT tool, it is possible to know the real situation of the port system environment in terms of metaverse and the establishment of the main scenarios, to achieve the final objective that is the possibility of implementing metaports in the port system. The main conclusion is that the best opportunities offered by the metaverse in ports is the improvement of efficiency, management, and competitiveness in port operations.  However, the experts concluded that the conditions that have been given for the development of digitalization do not exist for the new paradigm of the metaverse, no matter how much attractive and realistic experience you want to sell to your potential users.
